HOLFORD/HALFORD 1891.COMPLETE THANK YOU
« on: Thursday 22 October 09 12:42 BST (UK) »
I have been searching for a family of boat people by the name of Halford/Holford, the name changes on census or children's baptisms

This is what I have so far

1871 RG10/1319 Folio 175 Page 41
Boat Cecil and Louisa New Brentford
Andrew HOLFORD  32 boatman born Leics
Emma (nee Tindall ) 30 Paddington
Elizabeth 2 Paddington
Henry 16 months Paddington

1881 RG11/1331 F 130 P 62
Cecil and Louisa Hillingdon
Andrew HOLFORD 38
Emma 37
Hannah 19
Eliza 6
Esther 4
Alice 1, married 1900 to Joseph Heather
Rose 1 month

1901 RG 13/1174 F 93 P28
Harlington
Andrew HALFORD 61
Emma 57
Emma 9 or 19 down as head, but I have an Emma born 1882

On 1911 Emma had 15 children, only 6 survived, I have names of 9, because of the name changing it has been difficult to find them but 1891 they should be somewhere, on  a boat I presume,

Thank you in anticipation

probably not a massive help, but couldn't help noticing the similarities here:
RG12/1019/108/52
Hillingdon
Butler's(?) Dock
"Sunbeam" Reg H2

John Halford Head Mar 60 Boatman b. Castle Donnington, Leics
Jane   "         Wife   "     58                b. Middlesex Paddington
Alfred  "        Grandson   7                 b.    "            North hyde (?)

In boat next door Mary Whitlock 66 is also born Castle Donnington

2 other Halford familes there including son Henry I think

Lee

Thank you, it is who I was searching for, John son of John and Jane married a Whitlock prior to marrying John Holford/Halford, her maiden name was Snow but I do think the barge next door must be related, parents to her first husband
These bargees intrigue me, what an interwsting life, most  of their babies went back to Paddington to be baptsed, it also looks as if everyone looked after everyone else's children, one family had 15 of them

Thank you Lee

Dear Louisa

My  paternal grandfather Richard William Halford  born 1898 in the  butty  boat at Rickmansworth Middx,  the  family then  moved to a cottage adjacent to the  canal in Brentford then  over  to  London Road Busch Corner.  The  cottage  was  demolished in  the 1930's.
My  grandfathers siblings names were:

George
Harry
Hilda
Edward
Elizabeth

We  might  be related

Hi Halford
I can't see a connection at the moment, most of mine came back to dry land and lived in either Kensington or Paddington, lots of them were baptised in the Bulls Bridge area, those who weren't were brought back to St Mary's Paddington, 9known as the Dustman's church) , to be baptised.

regards
