Me again
do you know if the details held in a church would have any more info other than what I have written on the paper - in other words would a church hold the certificate or would it be held in Dublin ??? ??? ???
So sorry for all the confusion - off to make a strong coffee and unscramble my brains

Margaret :-\ :-\ :-\

Other things to look at when you have time (and conviction that you are on the right track  ;))

Irish BMD

Deaths Ballyshannon district:
Henry Cosgrove -birth and death 1912
(Although I see there is a baby Harry in 1911  :-\)

John Murphy 1921 (birth 1846- fairly good match for age)
Ellen Murphy 1917 (birth 1851 - again fairly good match)

Births Ballyshannon district

1) Henry Cosgrove 1911
2) Henry Cosgrove 1912 (death above)

Re sending for a certificate:
http://www.groireland.ie/

In theory the church should have the same details = certificates look the same in most parish registers.

I suppose the benefit of the church is that there may be other records but you are relying there on the priest's time and generosity.

My friend thank you so much
the baby details I found - think it was the same Harry on the 1911 census
but the reg of deaths of John & Ellen Murphy I had not seen before
more notes to chase up
Written my letter to Church and will add a sweetner - money - in the hope that they will reply

thanks for taking the time to help a befuddled, brain scrambled very novice geneologist make some sense of all this - hope I havent confused you too much

Regards
Margaret :) :) :)

Oh no!!

Never mind though, at least you have GRO - In Ireland, you can order a copy of the actual entry which is cheaper that a certificate - just check when you fill out the form.

Have you ever ordered a cert from GRO? They will only accept cheques drawn on an Irish bank - Im not in Ireland - dont fancy posting my cards details to them

Im sure someone up there is making my search more difficult ??? ??? ???
OR MAYBE MY ELUSIVE ANCESTERS DO NOT WANT TO BE FOUND

Yes - I did it with card details- it's a risk but there you are!

You maybe able to get them from Northern Ireland registry office http://www.groni.gov.uk/
or the local one but that would still be Euros.
I think aghadowey has posted the Northern Ireland one for you on one of the threads and I trust her  :D

Just read over them and see.

GRONI, Belfast only supply certificates for the 6 N.I. counties.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
