Hi

Looks like Charles is on the 1881 twice as I have found

RG11/3029 folio 13 page 20
Address 3 house 1 court Gosta Green , Aston

Charles Davis 24 shoemaker born Birmingham with wife Rose 22, and children William 2 and Charles 11 months.

In1891
RG12/2418 foli 63  page 12

They are at same address with 3 more children, Arthur, Rosanna and Florrie.  Rose is now called Rosener.

Hello Tina

I know exactly how you feel with a surname like Davies!

I have taken a quick look on Ancestry for you.  I find marriage records by limiting the search to Marriages only and then I go into the data card and view others on the same page; this gives the names of all the people married on the same record.  If you are lucky you can spot the wife or husband's name.  The good news is you know John's wife's name was Sarah A.

I guess that they were married around 1858 since this is just before the eldest son was born and I also guess they were married in Aston since Sarah was born in Norfolk.  There is a reference to a John Davis and Sarah Ann Turner being married March Qtr 1859 Aston, Warwickshire Vol 6d page 295.

I also think I found them on the 1861 census if it helps but this time John's surname is Davies (the correct Welsh spelling!).  The portfolio number was RG9/2144/43/18.

I am not certain this is the marriage record you are looking for but it might be worth checking it out.

Good luck
