On the 1861 census, the brother of my gt grandfather was boarding at a school in Gravesend, at 1 Woodville Terrace, following the death of both parents. As he was born and lived in the St James Westminster area, and his younger brother was sent to an Ealing boarding school near his mother's family, I'm trying to work out why he was sent to Gravesend. Has anybody heard of this school and what sort of school it was? It seems cruel after losing your parents to send you so far from home.
