Hi,

Looking at the image, I'd say it's Charnwood Forest.

There's definitely a letter between r and w, and Forest is quite clear on the image as well.

Sorry, I know nothing about English geography  :P

Wiki shows it in the north west of Leicestershire, very close to Notts

Charnwood Forest is just up the road from me!! I spent my childhood up many a tree there as we lived on the outskirts of L'boro with fields up to the woods.

Charnwood Forest is a distinctive area of rugged upland landscape towards the north-west of Leicestershire. It is valued for its geological importance, rich biodiversity, landscape beauty, historical importance, and recreational role. It is also a traditional working landscape with a high proportion of land in agricultural use and, in some parts of the area, mineral working. The western part of Charnwood Forest is part of the National Forest

there is a lot of useful info on the leics villages site:

www.leicestershirevillages.

some of the villages have PR records ie Barrow on Soar  but all of them list what PRs are available and where they are kept. on most villages this is under history / family history.

there are also some good PR records for the Wolds villages -

http://www.hoap.co.uk/who/localhisregister.htm

Wymeswold/Burton/Hoton/prestwold/cotes etc

the village records for the area around Loughborough are also held at L'boro library. this has an excellent family history section where i go regularly. sadly closed until 16th Nov...
