Hi
I believe my father was Richard Brussels, born in Roscrea in 1910. Does anyone know anything about him?

Martin Brussels married Mary O Reilly 29 July 1902

These small variations in surnames are not uncommon.

In the 1902 marriage, Martin Brussel's father was given as Edward, Mary O'Reilly's father was given as Richard (both fathers labourers). A Martin Brussels was born in Roscrea on 4 April 1885 to parents Edward Brussels (described as 'pensioner') and Eliza Keasley.  Martin's parents in 1901:

Other children to Edward Brussels and Eliza Keasley were Mary 1870, Edward 1872, Elizabeth 1874, twins Anne & Catherine 1875, Margaret 1878, Mary 1880, Eliza 1883, Maria 1889, Michael 1891, and William 1893. Edward Brussels and Eliza Keasley got married in Roscrea Church on 8 November 1869 - Edward's father was also called Edward, a carpenter, Eliza's father was called Michael, a dealer.

That's brilliant, thank you so much. Adds another useful but of info. The person I am interested in is the son of Martin and mary, richard. He moved to England and unofficially changed his name (looks like to an anglicised version of his maternal grandmother's name. i am half Irish, but finding it difficult to prove it at the moment. Thanks again for your help. Pat
