Kirkham and France

Was wondering if anyone can help with furnishing any details for my Kirkham and France family. l would like to confirm the following and perhaps find ancestors.

Anything at all appreciated.

1. Thomas Kirkham was born in 1788 in Shrewsbury.Shropshire. England.


Birth could be 1782

Thomas married Martha France in 1811 in St Marys. Shewsbury.Shropshire. England.1 Martha was born in 1792 in St Marys. Shewsbury.Shropshire. England and died on 11 May 1827 in Back St.Castlegate.Shropshire. England, at age 35.


Children from this marriage were:

+ 2 M    i. Thomas Alfred Kirkham was born in 1814 in Berkshire. England., was christened on 16 Feb 1814 in Shrewsbury.Shropshire. England, and died on 2 Jun 1868 in Hobart Town.Tasmania. Australia, at age 54.2


Thomas married Eleanor Ellen Campbell (b. 22 Aug 1827, d. 21 Jul 1861) on 16 Sep 1844 in Hobart.Tasmania.Australia.3

   3 M    ii. Richard Kirkham was born on 5 Feb 1817 in Shrewsbury.Shropshire. England.


Richard married Hannah Fletcher on 5 Jan 1834 in Maedeley.Shropshire.

   4 F    iii. Mary Kirkham was born on 18 Aug 1819 in Shrewsbury.Shropshire. England.


Mary married John Williams on 26 Sep 1834 in Little Wenlock. Shropshire.

I have no idea whether this will assist.  I have my 3 x Gt Uncle Thomas Upton, marrying Ann France on 15th Sept. 1795, @ St. Mary's Shrewsbury

At this stage the France/Kirkham families are all a mystery. You possibly wouldn't have anything else on Ann that may help?
l'll definately keep this info, as the likely hood of a connection is very much possible.

Hi Skurrie,
Sorry no. All I know is that Thomas was the son of John Upton & Ann Davies. Thomas had a Bro. Edward. They were the product of Johns 1st marriage. Ann died about 6mths after the birth of Edward in 1770.

While I was searching for clues on my Kirkhams (not Tas), I came across the listings of the Kirkham/France Hobart descendants on IGI (southwest pacific).

You probably have trawled right through this already but, just in case ...
