I would like to search the records for the poorhouse(s) near Dorchester in 1861. Can someone direct me to anything online?

If you have access to the 1861 census records, then I managed to find the reference for whereabouts the workhouse is on them!

But it sounds like you do not have access. It is available via pay to view or subscription sites (like Ancestry, Findmypast, there are various discussion threads on Rootschat about the merits and disadvantages of various sites  -none is perfect!)
Also many local libraries in UK have free access to Ancestry, and thus to the censuses.

But if you give us the name and details of who you are looking for, someone on here who has access will have a look for you.
