Oh, yes please. I've been waiting for over 20 years, so weeks don't matter. Please could I be very cheeky and ask you to check her Bapt. the information I have is

Mary Townsend Born Oct/Nov/dec 1848 parents James and Judith Townsend.

Marriage. Father name James Townsend.
This is the last of my greatx2 grandmother sisters/brothers. I have her on the 1851 census aged 2 but then no sign. Her father died in 1859 and her and her mother Judith just disappears. Many thanks for your time.

Cu,
Thats okay then will do both look ups next time I go, the Baptism is the same Parish then?

CU,

Are you sure about the date of marriage ???.   Mary is shown as 2 on the 1851 census, if she married in 1860, this would make her approx 11 - 12 years old.

Thanks Harry, will recheck what the lady from Slough sent me. I do know about Mary on Census 1851. Her mother got married when she was just 16, but of course Mary couldn't get married until she was 14.Then will get in touch with newbie so not to waste her time if wrong. Thanks again.

CU,

I found this quote on another web site where there was a query regarding minimum marriage age:

"Before Hardwicke's Marriage Act of 1753 there was no lower legal age of marriage, except during the 1650's when it was 16 for men and 14 for women. In 1753 it was fixed at 14 for men and 12 for women and remained at that until the Age of Marriage Act 1929 when it was raised to 16 for both."

So maybe the marriage could be right !

Hi CU,
I searched for the Baptism for you yesterday at BRO, for Mary Townsend, Baptised 1848/1849. Clewer. parents James and Judith Townsend.
Checked Clewer St.Andrew - MFilm 428,
February 1848 page 136, - July 1852 p151.
Sorry no sign of her.
the last entry on two of the pages is totally obscured, even the archivist couldn't read it, the space may have been blank, but it did look like there should be something there certainly on one of them, just faded totally.
Sorry,  I did check twice to make sure I wasn't missing anything, the other entries were very legible.
Newbie.
