Date for photo of Norah Strange COMPLETED

I wonder if some of our experts could give me a date for this photo and hazard a guess at the age of the subject please?

 I don't have the original but as far as I can remember the frame was plain and nothing printed on front or back. The height was about 5 inches I guess.

Not much to see that's dateable but what there is looks late 1870's,the lady's hairstyle was a new style from this period also the ruff at her neck was popular at this time.These styles did carry over into the 1880's but without the benefit of seeing the original I would suggest 1877-82 to be safe(but more likely 1878-81).

Many thanks Jim, Judy, Igor and Chinaclay for your dates. My daughter and I both thought she was in her early twenties.

The date of~1880 is helpful as it means she might be on the 1881 census. However I can't find a match for Norah/Eleanor with the Strange families we know marry into the main family line! I'll just have to keep digging!

I agree, Judy, that it's a lovely photo. I've looked at my copy over the years and wondered who she was and where she fitted in. Now I'm trying to find out.

If she doesn't seem to fit, Pete, she may not be family at all. It was common for friends as well as relatives to exchange photos, and some people collected them in albums as a hobby...including photos of famous persons.
