Do you know Brenda Tunks - Hardy Family expert?
« on: Friday 30 October 09 08:16 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
In regard to my connection with the John Hardy family in Dorchester, I have been in contact with Dominic Thornton at the Dorset Archive Service and he has suggested I should try to see the book "Whatever Happened to the Other Hardys?’ by Brenda Tunks and also other research material by her. The Dorset Library holds this book and other material by Brenda Tunks but as I am in Scotland I will not be able to access it.

The book appears to be out of print but I wondered if it is possible to contact Brenda Tunks directly. I wonder if anyone here knows her so I could write to her to see if she holds any information on my branch of the Hardy clan.

thanks
Bob

If you know where the book you want to see is (i.e. Doset library) can you ask your local library in Fife to get it for you via the inter-library scheme ?   I think you have to pay a modest sum (maybe £1 or so) and they will send for it ... I got one from New Zealand once !!    :o

Actually, I just got a copy of the book on ebay.  I would still like to find out if the author is "still around".

In December 2006 she donated a copy of a book to the RNLI for sale, see the link "The RNLI Bears of Bear Island. Might be worth following up?

Bob,

I don't know whether you have seen a message on the Essex Rootsweb board from 1997 which has a thread on the Hardys and has an address for Benda Tunks in 21 Scarf Road, Canford Heath, Poole.
