GORE/CLARKE, Emily Patricia - Wexford COMPLETE
« on: Friday 30 October 09 19:18 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the death date and death location of Emily Patricia Gore nee Clarke, born about 1880 Ballistown, Wexford to Richard Clarke, mother's last name O'Neill.  Married to John Gore about 1898.  He died 1912.  This upset her so much that she was institutionalized and it is supposed that she died in the institution, possibly Enniscorthy or Ballochton.  Her children were Sarah born 1899, Arthur died an infant, Eva born 1901 and Elizabeth Abigail born 1903.  I think she is buried in Ballochton but there is no marker on her grave.  Any info appreciated.

Hello Janice,

Welcome to rootschat  :D

Family Search -Irish BMD's has a death for Emily Gore  birth 1872 died December quarter 1921 Enniscorthy district.
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start

This is the only one which shows up for that name. You could send for the certificate for any other information if you though it was her.

Have just looked at 1911 census and  Emily Gore living with husband John is there so she looks like yours.

Hey, Heywood

You are brilliant.  I am sure you are right.  My mother-in-law has always told me that Emily was only 17 when she married but I'm thinking she was confusing her with her own mother.  If I send for the official death certificate, do you know if it will contain more information than you have already found for me?  Thanks so much for your direction.

Janice

the following information is listed on a death cert :

 Registration district, county etc
date & place of death (sometime the residence is also listed if death occurred away from home e.g. hospital)
 name and gender of deceased
 condition (single, widow etc)
age at last birthday (based on details given by informant)
occupation (for women this often lists occupation of husband, for young children that of father)
cause of death & duration of illness
Informant, name address & qualification -  can be family member or doctor
 date registered
 signature of registrar

Hi Janice,

as Shane has indicated, sometimes the information can be limiting. However, in your case, where you think she may have been in an institution, it would hopefully confirm or disprove this.

http://www.groireland.ie/

is the site to help if you want to send for the information.

good luck

Thanks to both Shane and Heywood.  You gave me just what I needed.  I hope to make my mother-in-law very happy.
