Hi Nick,

I do have a marriage cert for William but it is the one for his marriage to my grandmother(Hannah),before that he was married to my grandmothers sister (Mary)who died after 1yr of marriage. So I   need to get the certificate of his marriage to Mary Crimmins and see what it has on there.

I was always told that my g,grandmother never liked her daughter Hannah(my gran) and William and we thought that was because Hannah married her sisters husband(William)only a year after she had died. But I am know begining to wonder if she knew he was some kind of serial husband.lol

Thanks for the help.

Hi all,

I have recieved William Horne's marriage cert for his marriage to Mary Crimmins--he is down as BACHELOR!!!!looks like you may be right Osprey and William and Nellie were living together :o.

I have checked S/People and census's and my grandfather is the only William James Horne born in Portgordon in 1882,so I believe that this is grandfather in the 1911.
This poses another puzzle---what happened to the child that it says they have,he/she is not on the census.I suppose that is a puzzle that will never be solved, mind you grandfather was'nt adverse to telling a few porkies--he keeps knocking a few years off his age.lol

Anyway--thanks for your help.
Regards,
MM

The child registered in 1909 was baptised as the son of Walter Bertie & Nellie Dorcas. The questions on the census about length of marriage and number of children are for the wife only, so the child might not be the son of William James.

He could be with his father, if we could find either of them.

Hi Osprey,

as they are both down as Horne in the census I am thinking that she may be a relative he was lodging with (although I hav'nt come across any "Nellie's in the family tree.lol)

Guess this is one puzzle that will stay unsolved--don't you just hate it when that happens!.

Thanks again for your help.

have you thought about getting the death cert for Nellie D Wasley registered 1915 just her to eliminate her?

Hi Osprey,

sorry I missed this post.I have been so busy with new grandaughter/xmas shopping and a horrible week in bed with nasty flu type illness.

Good idea to eliminate Nellie Dorcas---I will probably do it after xmas.

Regards and a merry xmas to you,
Marysma

Season's Greetings to you as well. Hope you're over that illness and you can enjoy Christmas with the very cute new twig on the tree.
