Andersons of Tushielaw
« on: Tuesday 03 November 09 09:16 GMT (UK) »
Hello all,
Does anyone have anything more than the following on this branch of the Andersons of Tushielaw? I already have dates for most of them.

Michael Anderson I = NN Scott (sister of Laird Walter from whom MA bought Tushielaw in 1688)
                                |
Michael Anderson II = Henrietta Porteous
                                 |
Michael Anderson III = Janet Naesmyth (4th dau. of 1st Baronet, James N)
                                  |
1)Michael Anderson IV = Isabella Colville
2)Barbara Anderson = Alexander Kirton chirugeon of Barbados
3)Patrick Anderson = Rachel Watt

Thanks
Brian

Thank you very much for that, Alan.
Sorry I got the county wrong.
Is that really 1913? giving him a d.o.b. of c. 1885.
I'm asking because I have a Margaret Naesmyth who married a Michael Anderson, but she was born in 1658 and they married in 1682 so impossible for this to have been their son.
Something is wrong here.
Can you help clarify?
Thanks again,
Brian

I have checked the photograph and it is 1713. On the CD each headstone has a digital photograph.

Hi Alan,
Thank you for that.
I am interested in the CDs but have no idea what they cover.
You mentioned that they're available from BFHS. It's an acronym I don't know. They may tell me more about the contents without your going to any trouble.
Can you help?

I'm still not sure which of the Michael Andersons married Margaret Naesmyth, though the dates indicate the first MA owner of Tushielaw, but if so he was also, apparently married to NN Scott, sister of Laird Walter who sold the property to his brother-in-law.

I transcribed all the Cds mentioned. Ettrick MIs has 235 headstones recorded each with a digital photograph. The Cd also has a Militia list for Ettrick and Yarrow for 1802 a War memorial list and a synopsis on James Hogg Tibbie Shiels and Rev Thos. Bostob.
Kirkhope is slightly smaller and has the same info and also a school list for 1876-80.
Yarrow is larger with 439 inscriptions and photos ,war mem, militia lists and school iist for 1874 and only came out last month. The above all have indexex for names and places.
Selkirk Auld Kirk 1600s-1800s also with 467 stones and photos.and War Mem in Selkirk.
Brierlaw Cemetery in selkirk is the next oldest in 1800s and Shawfield which is adjoing has some 1900s and now up to date. They are both over 100 headstones but No photos as it would make the discs too big.. But it means that all aoo Selkirk has now been recorded.
Ashkirk is also finished as has over 400 stones and photos militia list schools list and aname and place indexes amd has a three page index simply for Scotts therein.
St Marys is too far gone to updat but we have it on disc as well also Lindean and all pre 1855
After we the Selkirkshire Antiquarian Soc have produced he CDs we give them to the Border Family History Society BFHS (www.bordersfhs.org.uk )..who produce their own versions with our transcriptions. Our society hope to have our own web site shortly as well.
All cheques to Selkirkshire antiquarian soc ,E-mail me privately for details re postal address.
Hopefully that explains it all and what they are all about. There are no other group transcribing Selkirkshire MIS because we have now completed them all up to date.
