William Jones
« on: Tuesday 03 November 09 13:01 GMT (UK) »
On his son's WW1 service record the address given for his father William Jones was 23 Taff Terrace, Cann or Carn Town, Abercynon.
I have been trying to locate this on both the 1901 and 1911 census records without success.
On google the road still seems to exist today in an area called Mountain Ash.
The 1901 census puts Abercynon within the Llanwomo district.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? His sons name was John Jones born c.1887

Thank you

Looking at the descriptions of the enumerators report I would say that in 1901 Taff Terrace should fall under Llanwonno district 24. Page 25 (RG13 5004 )shows Carne Park Hotel then follows on to Park Street and then Cardiff Road which matches with Google maps. However, Taff terrace is not listed within these entries so it was either not named Taff terrace until after the 1901 census or it was built after this date. Having a quick look I could not see either William Jones or his son under Park Street. Sorry but I do not have access to the 1911 census.

I did a quick address search on 1911 census and there is still the same amount of house nos in Park Street which still makes me think Taff Terrace was built later. Hill St was showing on the 1911 though unlike the 1901 census.
