Adding info to your ancestry tree
« on: Tuesday 03 November 09 13:04 GMT (UK) »

Ive been a member of ancestry now for 3 yrs, had no trouble before but trying to add info to my tree and cant, there doesnt seem to be an add button any more, or search records on the list, it used to be on the right hand side of your tree and you could click it to find more info on that person,
Help!

many thanks

If I were you, I'd download a free Famiily History prog, such as Legacy and by using GEDCOM copy your tree over.  Then you can add and delete as you wish and your tree will be private.

I assume your membership has not lapsed?

I would try deleting your browser history to see if that makes any difference.

If you are using Internet Explorer then on the menubar at the top left of the screen click on Tools >> Delete Browsing History >> Delete Files.

Hi

I'm sure I saw something on Ancestry in the last day or so that some work was being undertaken that affected access to trees, I didn't take much notice as to the derails as I don't have a tree on Ancestry

Andy

Edit

PS. Sorry, just looked on Ancestry and its for Nov 10th

Andy

Not sure if this is what you mean?
but when you load your tree then to the right of the name of your tree
there should be a box "find a person in the tree" and then once your on the overview of that person
you can add/edit etc,
or on the profile of each person you can add as much info as you want, as i say not sure if it's not what your talking about, but nothing seems to have changed?

Hi, Thank you for all your replies, my membership runs out next march, ive tried deleting my history but i still cant add to my tree.
i wanted to add a child to one of my ancestors  there used to be an add button and a list would come up to add their name, date of birth etc and its just not doing it lol.

Ancestry has changed bits and pieces so will lhave another go i may have to do a search then add the info to the tree that way.

Thank you for all your replies, I rang Ancestry in the end, my tree was on the Onetree which they have now phased out,
the lady was really helpful and guided me through how to start a new tree and everything moved over but it only moves up to 5th generation so have had to add info that didnt transfer.

many thanks
