Hello Rose,  No further success with research on Evan Hughes and I can't find any likely candidates who emigrated to America, but I'll keep looking.  If you go to my tree on Ancestry you will see a photo of Elizabeth Anne Hughes, so do you have access?

I've done a lot of research on a Owen William Hughes, born 19th August, 1820, lived at Ty Cochyn, Llanrhyddlad, had a vhuge family of about 10 or more children. Any connection?

I don't have much information on William Hughes (b.1849) other than his father was Evan Hughes (b. circa 1827) and that Evan's father was Owen Hughes, so given that first sons often took their fathers name, there is a chance that Owen William Hughes was Evan's brother.  If I discover more I'll let you know.

Married Eleanor Owen 20th August 1813, Lllanrhyddlad (have a query on this, it may be married 29th October, 1819 Llanddyfnan)
Birth of son Owen William Hughes 19th Aug 1820, Llanfaethlu
Birth of daughter Cathrin Williams abt 1828
2. Owen William Hughes (above) married Winifred Hughes 29th Sept. 1840
    All children below born Llanrhyddlad
    William Salisbury Hughes b. 7 Feb. 1841
    Elinor Hughes b. abt. 1843
    Richard Salisbury Hughes b, Oct. 1843
    William Hughes b. Llaniestyn Back 1845
    Owen Hughes b. 1845
    Richard Hughes b. 1846
    (I actually have 15 children)
I did this research looking for a headstone for Owen Hughes in Llanrhyddlad for someone in the USA
