To scouseboy

Pool Park Hospital was definitely a branch of the North Wales Mental Hospital.

I see,    A branch  away from the main site.   I did not want the two sites to get confused with each other.

Hannah PRICE, my grandmother, was born on Christmas Day 1880 at Coed-y-Ganwen Bach (1881 Census and Birth Cert.) which, from the geography of the area, seems to have been some sort of lodge/gatehouse of Pool Park. Her father, David PRICE, was a game-keeper and her mother Ellinor ROBERTS was a cook.

I would be interested and grateful if anyone could confirm my theory of a connection between the address and/or people to Pool Park.

You could search for that building name now  on the Royal Mail post code finder web site,  OR  Google Earth,  OR  www.denbighshire.gov.uk        and go to Interactive Map.

The building may still exist today.

The house is still there and inhabited, I was there last week. I just need to get my head round its origins. Thanks for the very handy hints though, I've got a couple more places still to find and it should save me hours. Cheers!

I am writing a history of Woodlands hall , Llanfwrog which I beleive had some associations with the Pool Park Estate. I noticed that the Turners were associated with Pool Park . The present owners of Woodlands Farm are the Turner family and I wondered if there was a link? I'm also working on the history of the Woodlands Farm and family history for the Turners

If anyone local (or not!) to Ruthin has any memories of the Woodlands Hall estate especially Helen Bremner who lived there I would appreciate making contact

Thanks   for any help

Hello, I would be very interested in any Turner information you can find. My Turner ancestor's lived in Llanfwrog and I would be happy to post what information I have on them from the 1800's on to you.

As an aside, I recently had my Y chromosome DNA tested by Ancestry and had several matches to people residing in the USA. I have now taken a more in depth test on FamilyTree DNA and the results will be published under the Turner project. There are several families that think they may link back to the Turner family from the Ruthin area.
Turner - Caernarvonshire, Denbigshire, Merionethshire, Shropshire & Staffordshire
Craig - Glasgow and Co. Antrim
Evans - Merionethshire & Caernarvonshire
Williams - Caernarvonshire & Merionethshire
Neeson - Co. Antrim
McCormick - Glasgow
Costello - Glasgow
