Traveller a Gypsy?

G.G.Granma came from Ireland on her marriage certificate the father is down as a Traveller,what would the chance be of him being a Gypsy?

My findings are- One of the terms given to "Gypsies" was more commonly "Tinker" in Ireland and Commercial Travellers or travelling Salesmen as Travellers. A safe bet is if the person involved passes 5 points ( ie) name, description, occupation, address and crime (if appropriate) it is a fair bet that they are Romany. Not saying that your family were not. What is the surname- Roser

Wow! Thankyou for that list thats given me some hope.My Steel is James who had a daughter called Catherine around 1817(My G.G.Granma) I think I will join a Romany family history society and see if I can find any thing out.  :)
