Dee-jay,
Thank-you very much, will in the meantime go with 1841/1851 being one and the same, had noticed that 1841 is the main rounded to 5 or 10 yr census, but good to have someone confirm it looks like same people. At some point I will get down to Winchester and check out the PR to double check. Very much appreciate your time. Thanks.

Thank you dee-jay,

That is definately the James son of James and Mary mentioned earlier. This James and Anne on the m. you mention were the parents of Ellen mentioned earlier.
I didn't have this date of m. so thank you, it has also helped me further with the witnesses because I have a possibility of a sister Elizabeth that I couldn't trace, and now I can look if she m. Jonathan Tubb (almost positive it will be Tubb as this is a large family of this area that I have come across).
Thank you so much for your time, it is very very much appreciated.

On 2nd post on this link, 'Grandma' kindly gave a baptism date of Oct 29 1817 Broughton for James.

I am trying to find any info on this James either m. d. or and census, but not luck.  :)

Reason for trying is to confirm info with two James' in the family both born 1817 . James father was William Prangnell  m. Ann Oackamore. William's father was Jonathan b. 1758 West Tytherley. This Jonathan had a brother Moses b. 1773 who m. Sarah Cooper b. 1773 (Jonathan & Moses were of 10 or 11 issue)

Moses and Sarah both of West Tytherley had 10 issue, one of which was James b. 1817 West Tytherley who m. Jane Kimber.

I had muddled these two James both born 1817 up, but realised due to births of Broughton for the son of William & Ann and West Tytherley for the one son of Moses and Jane, also this W.Tytherley James has 9 issues, 1st born James, and the 2nd born Moses.
Thank you to everyone at rootschat, its a blinding site  ;D

Excuse me while I shake my brain awake......................

If I read this correctly, you have the occurrence of two James Prangnell (or variant) born in 1817 - ? both in Broughton?

Which one are you interested in?  Or are you trying to work out which is which in later life?

Nell

Hi Little Nell,

James Pragnell b. 1817 Broughton as mentioned his bap on post two is who I am looking for, because after his bap I can't find anything about him. Wonder if he d. before adulthood?

My other James Pragnell b. 1817 was West Tytherley, believe of Moses Pragnell & Sarah Cooper.
I now think this is the James that m. Jane Kimber in circa 1836 poss w. tytherley, and they had issue, James 1837, Moses 1839, Jane 1842, Harriet 1843, Hery 1847, Alred 1848, Frederick 1850, Emma 1856, Charlotte 1859

I am just trying to 100% clarify that I now have my James' the right way round, think I fell into the trap of attaching to the wrong one due to birth dates, but with the West Tytherley James, his children, the names make more sence this way around, 1st child named after father, 2nd after grandfather, 3rd after mother.

With James of Broughton, I have searched census for the villages around the Broughton area and areas where siblings moved to, mainly includes Broughton, Houghton and Stockbridge....can't find him there.

My gut feeling is that I am now the right way around with the James', and my Broughton James d. before 1837? Think I may need a little trip to HRO soon.

These burials for James Pragnell in Broughton:

2 Apr 1816 James Pragnell inf
5 Dec 1830 James Pragnell inf
31 May 1833 James Pragnell 15

I don't see any possible ones for James in  West Tytherley.

The last one in 1833 is a possibility.  Unfortunately, this is a transcription and if there is no other onformation in the register and no memorial inscription (depends how well off they were), then there may be no way of proving that he is William's son.

James Pragnell married Jane Kimber in West Tytherley 12 April 1836.  I agree that the occurence of the name Moses amongst his children is a pretty good indicator that his father was Moses - or that there was a Moses in his family background somewhere.

I can't see another James Pragnell marriage pre-1837 that would fit.

Nell

Little Nell,

I can't thank you enough, you are a total star!!!
My James must be the burial of 31 May 1833 age 15 as his bap was Oct 29 1817, so ages all fit.

I have also found a relation doing this search with the two James, so this has sorted out more than 1 person...hope this link may help others too. I love Rootschat more and more every time - have recommended it to so many people.

Thank you so much again.
Kindest kindest regards  ;D
