Don't worry Tom, we all do that  :) I'm glad it is Duncan because we have this entry in 1891:

Alexander Grant 34, farm servant, b. Duthil, Inverness Shire
Jessie Grant (Calder) 37 b. Inverallan, Inverness Shire
Duncan Grant 11, b. Abernethy, Inverness Shire
Donald Grant 7 b. Abernethy, Inverness Shire
Alexander Grant 3, b. Abernethy, Inverness Shire
Margret Calder 76, mother in law, b . Inverallan, Inverness-Shire

Address: Heathfield Cottage, Cromdale and Advie, Moray

That entry for Duncan then fits with this potential entry in 1901:

Duncan Grant, 21, Grocers Assistant b. Abernethy Invernessshire lodging in Inverness Town.

I've seen your other post Tom trying to track them down post their marriage. No sign of Elizabeth Shearer/Grant's death in Scotland which makes it difficult to track their movements past their marriage year.

The 1911 census when released might give you a clue as to where they were then if still in Scotland. What were Elizabeth's parents names and mother's maiden name? You could try searching for births on SP post 1908 with her parents' surnames and Grant.

Even if there is something there on births, it won't help you with their death details unfortunately. If they died outside of Scotland, it will be hard for you to find this information unless you can find someone related to them or who has them on their tree  :-\

I've just checked on the FreeBmd (covers England and Wales) for births of Grant children with mother's maiden name as Shearer (this additional info is included on entries from late 1911) and can't see any entries on there.

Thanks Monica, her mothers maiden name was mary waugh, i am beginning to think they maybe emigrated or could they have split up and remarried some one else, its a bit of a mystery.
                                                    thanks again tom
