Thank you both that's been really helpful. I'm resuming research after a gap of several years. I had a note of parents being John and Elizabeth but tracked down the wrong couple I think.

Sorry Mosiefish i hadn't even noticed the messages were from 2 different people, i hadn't found the marriage image so thank you.

It took me a while to figure out Peter was John Peter which held up my research for a while.  John Peter and Mary Ann are my 4 x great grandparents, their grandchild Harriet Ann Farran is my Grandads Grandmother.

Well, The Manchester records with images are going online on Ancestry in February so we won`t have much time to wait to see if John on the baptisms was a Shoemaker/Cordwainer  :)

This is the 1841 census:
Boundary Street, Chorlton on Medlock
Elizabeth Farron, 50, Not born in County
George, 15, Porter, Born in County
Peter, 14, Porter, Born in County
Robert, 10, Born in County

Robert was also recorded as being baptised at Mosley Street Independent 10th July, 1831 and again on the same day as Peter at the Collegiate on 18th May, 1834. (Robert born 31st May, 1831)

I am confused as to how i've never come across the marriage record, are they new records on family search? I use that site all the time  :-\

New records on Ancestry sounds good, a few brick walls may collapse  :)

Thank you for the 1841 also, i am about to look them up now i am armed with new details!

Hi Stacey,

There are new records on familysearch but not all of them have been transcribed!

If you go to www.lancashirebmd.org.uk you should find the marriage of Peter Farren and Mary A Swan in 1846 at St. Mary, Manchester (This is St. Mary the Parsonage).  If you look to the far right you should see a reference number 9/4/168.  168 is the key as that is the entry number in the parish records. As there are two marriages per page half it to 84.

Now go to https://www.familysearch.org/
Scroll down past the search boxes to "Browse by Location"
click on "United Kingdom and Ireland"
Scroll down to "England, Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Parish Registers, 1603-1910"
Click on this.
Scroll down past the search boxes to "Browse through 249,255 images"
Click on this and then select Lancashire.
You should now have a list of churches they have images for (not all transcribed).
Click on Manchester, St Mary`s Parsonage and select marriages 1845 - 47.
When the image opens (fully) alter the image number from 1 to 84.

Regards,
Mo

You are welcome.

By the way George Farren married the other witness Emma Booth in 1846 at Manchester Collegiate/Cathedral.  :)

I can`t wait for the Ancestry records to come online as it may knock a few brick walls down for me too ......  Ever the optimist  ::)  I live in hope !
