Parish registers - Maloney
« on: Tuesday 10 November 09 22:16 GMT (UK) »
I would appreciate your help as I have come to a dead end in tracing my family tree. Could anyone help me in providing information on the following names that were born in Cork.
Bartholomew Maloney and his wife Hannah (maiden name not known).
Bartholomew was born 1787 and died 1865.
Hannah was born in 1801 and died in 1856.
Born andmarried in Cork before moving to EastHam in Essex around1840.
The couple had ten children.
Any help would be brilliant.
Thanks
Jan

Could Hannah be Joanna?  I found this online:

I am descended from a Bartholomew and Joanna Maloney - also from Cork - apparently a different couple who finished up in Portsmouth

Did someone mention a Bartholomew Moloney?

There was a Bat Moloney with wife Honora (one record looks like Hona) Sullivan in the RC parish of Kilmacabea.

They had Ellen bap 16-Feb-1834, Michael 12-Sep-1837.  Kilmacabea records start very late, in 1832.

The residence listed for Ellen's baptism is Ballinlough.

I do not see a Moloney in Ballinlough in the TA of Kilmacabea (1829).  However, there was a Bat Moloney in Curragalicky in the Drinagh TA (1833).

There is also a Batt Moloney in Bantry with wife Julia Sullivan, son John bap 3-May-1824.  No further info.

There are some Bats and Johannas too, but they pop up after 1840.  Patrick of Monyreague, Dunmanway bap 10-Mar-1844 , mother Johanna Cronin.   Marriage of Bat and a Johanna Coghlan in Ballinspittal (Kinsale?), 13-Apr-1844.

It so happens this name has been brought to my attention because of one of my autosomal DNA matches.  She has the name "Malone" in her list of surnames and I thought maybe Malone could be a form of Moloney and I pointed out to her some of the local Moloneys.
