The LDS CDs show no John EAINE in 1881 census so if I have read the surname correctly it would seem the bible had to have been published by 1881.

The name is The Rev'd John Eadie, D.D. LL.D, Professor of Biblical Literature to the United Presbyterian Church.

There's another one here http://tinyurl.com/ygp4p5w

You may need to scroll down the page.  You will also find info on John EADIE (1810-76).  I doubt his death precludes a later date of publication - after all the book is still published despite earlier deaths of Matthew, Mark etc.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Dee's post [reply #8 I think] shows a title page with "His Majesty" which probably means after Queen Victoria.  No-one has suggested pre-Victorian.

I think that it was because it was the King James (First and Sixth) version  :)

The first entry was to a marriage in the mid 189os.

You're right, Lydart.....the whole experience for Joan and I is fascinating.....the old bible itself, the families involved, and the story of their travels.

Thanks again, everyone. I'll spend some more time on this later today.  :D  :D
