I would like to find the census records for

Edward (or Frank) Moore born Norwich C1847

parents are
John Moore & Maria or Mary but I don't have any birth dates for them. They were married at St Nicholas Gt Yarmouth in 1843

Many thanks

Hmm. I can't ID the family in 1861 for now - shame because John and Maria's ages don't quite seem right. Back in 1841 (already married) their age was 40, and at 70 the mother in law seems too young to have a 63 year old daughter!

Thanks Tati,

I think the ages for John and Maria are around 10 years out with ties up with the 1841 census

I can't locate an accurate christening for John as there are a few it could be, he I think is born around 1799/1800.

Maria I think is Maria Hillen/Hilling chr 30.11.1800 St Mary Lichfield parents William and Betty. I think this marriage is at 2.7.1809 St Gregory Norwich with one further child Charlotte christened there in 1810. Betty I think is Elizabeth Chiddock chr 28.7.1776 St Gregory Norwich so that puts Elizabeth Hilling Mother in law at 75 not 70. It looks like she had Maria before they were married or for some reason they got married again in Norwich. It is unusal because William Hillien is noted as her father in 1800 but the marriage shows as 1809. For some reason this family seems to have been quite happy to change their ages. It also means that Edward who is of interest to me as he married my G Grandmother's sister was 47. The most likely registration for him is 3/1847 Norwich. He is 34 on the 1881 census.

I have concluded that this Edward is not my Edward and I have found the correct Edward 3/1847 with parents James and Charlotte. The clue to this is he has a sister Eliza which the other Edward does not. Thanks for everyone's help. It is possible that this John is a brother of James so the Edward's may be cousins.

At this stage I won't take this family any further.

Thanks
