If you put your tree online then people will shamelessly copy it. My tree is all over the place online, and I know it's mine as there are a couple of snippets in it that only I know. One of the facts of life that you have to live with unfortunately.

One thing that I did learn early on is to remove all living people before publishing, and do the same thing before sending any reports, gedcoms etc to anyone else (even siblings!). My father, many years ago before the internet, gave details of his living relatives to someone he thought was trustworthy. My details are now public

Trust no-one!

Hi David,

I don't mind helping out with a tree as long as they recipricate which most people have, this time I can't even get her to respond to my mail.

But to put a member on that has no immediate baring, that info I would have liked, then to go onto another member of the family and hide 2 names that would be over 100 years old and one of those children are also dead is not on.

On checking tree updates Sep/Oct for that family I found that there were hundreds of names just as many closed as open some going back to the 8th century, you begin to wonder.
