Hi Jenny & Ellen,

My great grandmother was Emma McNeice. As I understand it she was a daughter of Daniel MacNeice:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Limerick/Dock_Limerick_Urban_No__4/Emmett_Place/1501507/

and a sister of Arthur MacNeice, Daniel McNeice and John Samuel McNeice. She married Thomas J. Wallace who went on to be a Limerick Corporation Alderman. I was fascinated to read about the family legend of a Native American ancestor - my mother was told the very same thing - I would be most interested in hearing about any further results your research has yielded!

Hi folks,

I am a final year history undergraduate student in Mary Immaculate College, and Daniel and Arthur McNeice play a prominent role in my research. I would love to talk to you, if you know personal details about these men.

My understanding of the Genealogy is that
Daniel McNeice Senior was in the English army he was Married to Elizabeth McNeice
They had a son named Daniel (born in Malta), who too married an Elizabeth.

If we take a look at the 1901 census we can see that
Daniel McNeice Junior aged 32 is father to
Arthur McNeice (born in Malta)
Michael McNeice
and
John McNeice (born in quebec)

At some point they end up back in Limerick and in the 1911 census they are all living together.

If you know anything about Daniel or Arthur please do contact me.

All the best,

Seαn

I believe Daniel Jr had brothers

John (born in Quebec) and Arthur (born in Malta)

He named his sons after them.

I think that is another cause for confusion.

Very interesting, what I am wondering is how did they end up in Quebec?
