Family of Henry Connop Edwards (1845-1902) Leominster & Bromyard
« on: Monday 16 November 09 22:28 GMT (UK) »
My grandfather was the youngest of 10 children of the marriage of Henry Connop and Elizabeth Selina West.  Haven't been able to find much about them after 1901.  My grandfather, Albert, emigrated to USA about 1907.

Children: Dora 1874-, George Henry 1875-, Laura 1877-, Alice 1879-, Frank 1881-, Rose 1882-, Ernest 1884-, Harold 1884-, and Albert 1885-1954.

Anyone researching this family?
Regards,
BAE

Yes the Connop family seem to be common to Herefordshire, Kington, Lugwardine.  Found one running a coffee house in Marylebone, London in 1851 mis-spelt Cannop.

I have a pretty good record of the family prior to 1901, but not so of the children of Henry Connop Edwards.  It's the siblings of my grandfather, Albert Edwards, that I'm seeking information--one interesting note I came across is that my great uncle, Ernest Edwards, was with the "intelligence police" and was involved in the capture of a Boer who led a revolt in South Africa.

Hi Barry - With luck somebody might come forward with a link, and it is possible to use FreeBMD and Ancestry to find marriages and births and move forward almost to the present day.  My surname isn't too common, Edwards will take quite a lot of work/time.  You could select one brother or sister and find their marriage and children and hope to find a living relative who can fill in the gaps.

I did find a living relative of my gradfathers sister, the only one of that family who moved away, and I managed to find an address, so I wrote explaining how and why I made contact but never got a reply.  Some people aren't interested in the past, all I said was that if they would like details of their family tree which I was 90% certain was their family also, then just let me know, but they didn't.  Her mother was my dads cousin, it's not that distant.

cheers Fred

Dora was my grandfather Albert's oldest sister.  I know little about her family other than her husband and now the name of their third child, your grandmother.  I've sent a personal message to you about accessing additional information.
