Elder's and Huston's in Antrim
« on: Tuesday 17 November 09 12:44 GMT (UK) »
Through https://www.familytreedna.com/default.aspx I have proven genetic links to Samuel Elder, b 26 Jan 1695 in Antrim. He married Mary Huston and they had 3 offspring born in Artemore (Ardmore?) before they emigrated to America where they had 4 more. I know of at least two branches of the family in the USA now.

Mary Huston’s father was William, b 1680, who together with 3 sons William, John and George went to America before Mary and Samuel. Maybe this was the reason Samuel and Mary went.

I am in contact with descendants of Samuel and Mary in North America and Scotland but would like information about any Irish, Scottish or English descendants of either the Huston’s or Elder’s.

I was born in Newcastle upon Tyne and my earliest proven “Elder” ancestor is Alexander, b 1744. He married Isabella Cleland in Newcastle in 1776. (It is possible that Alexander’s parents were James Elder and Katherin Johnson b abt 1720)
