Hi Algy,

I can't find anything for them - do you have any more information, eg. approximate ages, places of birth?

Thanks

Jean

Hmm, possible in 1841, School Lane, Warrington, HO107 521/11/13 Page 19:

Rev T V BAYNE, 35, Clerk, Y
Thomas Vere BAYNE, 10, Y
John SLATTER, 20, Clerk, Y
Edward JONES, 20, Teacher, Y
Theophilus TURPIN?, 25, Teacher, France
Samuel LYON, 15, Y

Following this there is a list of boys either 10 or 15 (rounded down as per 1841 census instructions) - it looks like a school especially given it is on School Lane!!.  I'm assuming Clerk is Clerk in Holy Orders here.

Does this fit with what you know?

Aah, now it fits together a bit better:

Samuel John LYON m Ann Rice KEMP Mar 1845 Bristol 11 151

Sorry, I still can't see them in 1851.

Jean & Tati, I'm attempting to identify the rectors who lived in the Rectoryof our village, Grappenhall, Cheshire, I'm ok after 1861 to date (thanks to Tati). I googled Grappenhall Rectory and this is what it came up with from this site - "Limited Administration Act Books":-

Sarah Margaret Kemp of Grappenhall Rectory near Warrington, Cheshire, wid., the Rev. Samuel John Lyon of the same, clerk, & Anne Rice Lyon his wife are about to file a bill of complaint in Chancery… Robert James Latter, Lieut. Bengal army… Ebenezer Chapman of Calcutta, master of a private ship in the East India trade, the late husband of the said Sarah Margaret Kemp, d about 4 Oct 1820… a fund was raised for her & her children of 15000 sicca rupees & was paid to trustees… deceased was formerly of Calcutta but late of Chirra Poonjee in the Cossiah Hills but at Dacca, d 30 June 1838, & made a will appointing his wife Charlotte Esther Kemp (since deceased) & his brother Henry Chapman executors, not yet proven… [to Charles Tyler Ware of 60 Carey St, Lincoln’s Inn, gent., “limited to substantiate proceedings in Chancery”, £50, Estate Duty Registers], Pts

apparrently they lived in the Rectory in 1848.
but then everything dries up.
