Hi Andy, welcome to Roots Chat  :)

Have you contacted the local library for that area ?  Most libraries have reference books for the locality, and many have archived newspapers and/or press cuttings.

Hi Andy and welcome to rootschat ;D

As Nick says the local library should be able to help especially if it has a Local Studies Unit.

Good luck,
charlotte

My gran died days after I was born and grandad died when I was a teenager,no family members know my grans date of birth.
