Hi, hope you're still out there researching - I think I have tracked down the marriage of Theophilia and William Neal, I found a recently published extract from Phillimore Marriages for Desford with the following entry:  William Neal married Theophiliar Elliott banns 25th May 1795 at Desford, Leicestershire.  Witnessed by John Wood and Ann Bailey.  Bride was a spinster.  This was from a transcription on UK Genealogy Archives.  I think the previous marriage found for 1755 might be an incorrect date for the same record.  1795 would fit in with the births of 2 other children I have found to William and Theophila Neal - Ann Neal, christened 6.3.1796 in Desford, and Joseph Neal christened 13.9.1797 in Desford.  Desford is not far away from me, so hopefully at some point I'll be able to go to the library there and check out what parish records they have.  Hope you and your family are all well.  Best wishes - Lorraine

Dear Lorraine,

So sorry for such a late Thank You Very Much! I haven't been doing much family history lately.

Thankyou so much for confirming what I thought a while ago about the date of the marriage being incorrect.

Cheers Ted

Hi there, good to hear from you again.  Yes I am still here and still doing research now and then.  I've just rejoined FindMyPast for a year so I can catch up with the 1921 census in the UK.  I've researched a lot around the family but still never got back very far with the Neals, hit a brick wall with the marriage of William and Theodesia.  Still have fun looking though!

The last time I can find Theo.

Is in the 1861 Census. She is Theophia Chrawshaw (Chosher) a lodger widow aged 92.

Living with William and Ann Spencer, in The Village - William is a Framework knitter.  William is 71 and Ann is 65.

Was Ann her carer?

I searched the census and I think she was with people who cared.

How do I find where she died?

Should I make this a new post?

Thanks everyone for you help

Cheers Ted

Hi, in 1861 Theo was living with Ann, her daughter, who was married to William Spencer.  I've never been able to find a death record for Theo, but I believe that William died in 1863 and Ann possibly in 1866.  I wonder if this meant that Theo was left alone and maybe ended up back in the workhouse if she was unable to look after herself and perhaps no-one knew her real name when she died.  It is certainly a name that changes with every record!  A sad ending to her life, and sad that she outlived her children, but they certainly do seem to have cared for her as long as they could.
