Can anyone please tell me where the Territorial drill hall was, I seem to remember it was somewhere near the Kent opposite Abbot Hall?
Is it still there in other use, or demolished?
Are there any pictures of it?

Hi,
According to Kelly's 1938 Directory of Westmorland the drill hall was in Aynam Road. The TA in Kendal at that time comprised the "4th (Cumberland & Westmorland) Battalion The Border Regiment (H.Q. and D. Company)
If you google Aynam Road Kendal Drill Hall about half way down the page comes some South Lakeland District Council planning minutes or similar and the drill hall is mentioned in them. As they are 2009 it would seem likely that it is still there. I very rarely go into Kendal but if by the next visit no-one else has managed to find a definitive answer I'll try to find it and take a photo.

Thanks very much for the details, which clarify what was lurking in the remains of my memory!
When last in the old grey town I tried to identify the building but failed. A photo would be much appreciated by folk who are assembling an inventory of past and present Volunteer, TF & TA drill halls around the UK. Credit will of course be given for any they include.

I think the old Drill Hall on Aynam Road was converted into flats, some time ago. I'm not sure where the TA meets now.
I'll check when I get home, early next week.

Yes, that's the project I'm trying to help. I asked at Kendal library when last there but no luck.
Thanks for lloking , when you get back, Jen. There may be some army lot in Queen Katherine Street nearby.

There is certainly something military in Queen Katherine Street but in spite of the fact that I walk up there regularly ( my closest friend lives on QKS) I can't for the life of me tell you what it is.
Home Tuesday night, so should be able to tell you more soon after that.
