because there is a son thomas on the 1871 aged 1mnth
john.m.tierney aged 10 on the 1871 his birth was regd in caistor in the 2nd qtr of 1861
the m stands for michael

just noticed they are in the same address 1881,1891,1901
cannot find a death of patrick between 1881-1891
should be regd in caistor
maybe he died whilst at work at sea possibly?

the only tierney death in caistor between 1881-1901
is this possibly one of yours that would not appear on any census
