« on: Sunday 29 November 09 08:18 GMT (UK) »
Walter William Francis Alexander was born in St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland, eldest son of Walter (a soldier of the 5th Fusiliers and a plumber) & Mary Josephine Alsop (a House Servant to Father George Angus at The Presbytery St Andrews).

He was named for his father & His maternal Grandfather from Bristol UK.

Walter trained and qualified as a Doctor of Medicine at Bute Medical Building (part of St Andrews University) in 1919 and emigrated to S Africa. He became the Chief Medical Officer for the Rezende Mining Company and was there for over 30 years. He eventually entered politics & was MP & Speaker of the House between 1959-1963

I have quite a lot of information on his ancestors but not much on the SA side, although I am in contact with a living descendant of his brother Angus.

Any further information would be most welcome
