There are a number of George Cooks on the CWGC - can you be more specific?

WW2 records can only be obtained by the Next of Kin:

http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/raf.html

However, if you can specify which George Cook we maybe able to help you with details of his loss, and in some cases, some details about him

K

EDIT: He would have been 26 at the start of the war in 1939.

Only one close to the age difference between age and death is

http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=2814836

Born 1913/1914. However, this Cook wasn't aircrew.

There's one whose age isn't recorded:

Thanks for trying to help, I have had a look at the links you sent but he is none of these. The George Cook I am looking for was born in Derbyshire abt. 1913 i don't think he had a middle name his father,s name was Herbert and his mother,s name was Harriot, he was shoot down we think over the channel. His name is on the war memorial at Peak Dale near buxton Derbyshire they have spelt (Cooke) with an e on the end which we find often occurs with the Cook surname. I find i normaly have to sherch but spelling. We just can't seem to find any details about his death. He was my wife's greatuncle so we are not realy next of kin.

Thanks Bernard

Hi

Have you tried Free BMD to see if you can tie down his birth a bit more...  Was the Harriot supposed to be Harriet? It might be worth looking for Harriet and Herbert on the 1901 census to see where they were at that time.  Unfortunately the 1911 isnt free yet cos that would help even more...
Just a thought if you think he might have any gallantry medals or if he was in service prior to WW2 long service and good conduct medals it might be worth looking in the London Gazette or Flight Global.

Good luck.  Its difficult when you have very few details.

Dee :)

Hi Dee
Thanks for your help. I have narrowed his birth down to June Qtr.1913 in Derbyshire and found his parents on the 1911 census but what i was really trying to find out is more details about  his time in the RAF and his death. I will try to llok at the London gazette to see if i can find anything but I will have to make some enquires as to where I can view it.

Thanks again

Hi

You can view the London Gazette online.  You can then search the archives by putting in the persons name.  Its worth trying all combinations as they sometimes put stuff under some strange things....  It is worth the trawl if you can spare the time.

Flight global again have an archive website.
