Phillip Gunter was b.1776 at Little Birch, Herefordshire. In the 1841 and 1851 England census it is consistent that he is not born of that county. He married Mary Tylor on 24th April 1800 at Little Birch and John Gunter was a witness. Phillip died 29th October 1851 aged 70 years at Much Birch. He was a journeyman/stonemason. I have had searches done of Parish Registers of Much/Little Birch, the Dewchurches and Hentland to no avail for his christening. It is very possible he was Roman Catholic as many of his children were. Does anyone have any information of this Gunter line that may find his parents ? Thankyou.
