Can anyone help in identifying this person killed in WW1?
Can't find her on the CWGC web site or elsewhere and which Signal Service would she have been attached too?
She is listed in a memorial for Newport, Monmouthshire.

Beatrice Olivette White, Signal Service, Telegraphist
Newport's War Dead, Cwmbran's War Dead, Monmouthshire Warrior's, McGuire of Waterford City, Gillard of Churchstanton, north Devon, Morgan of Cwmbran, Waterford's War Dead

Many thanks Ambly, her death date is interesting and I am wondering why she is listed as one of Newport's war dead unless she died from injuries received or illnesses resulting from war service.

Well I finally found the obituary and Thanks for Sympathy entry in the local newspaper for this lady.
It seems she was the daughter of a couple who owned a post office in Newport and she died from illness aged 31.
This explains why she was described as a telegrahist but doesn't account for why she is listed in the Roll of Honour book for Newport's war dead in WW1!

I have a lady on my old village memorial that worked for the NAAFI,She was taken ill and died in an army hospital, she was brought back home to be buried and after the war was named on the memorial,She was considered to have "served".

Hi,
There is an entry under WW1 Campaign medals online at the National
Archives.
Beatrice Oliver White
Rank   ..Voluntary Aid Detachment

Also a Beatrice White, Army schoolmistress.

Looking very quickly on google, I think VAD included mostly hospital staff, perhaps they may have included signal staff?
Best wishes

Thanks Briant and Kath.
There doen't seem to  have been any military hospital in Newport as there ae a couple of large hospitals that I know treated military casualties in the wars. So I don't think that is the reason she is mentioned.
I should add that she is mentioned only in the WW1 Roll of Honour book in the reference library and its far from being a complete record of casualties in WW1 as is the WW2 book. I can find no other memorial to her in local churches etc.
Again Kath I don't think that is her in the records you mention and would those in those occupations be entitled to CWGC staus?
