SOLOMON & ROBINS of St. Gluvias, Penryn
« on: Wednesday 02 December 09 13:33 GMT (UK) »
Hello all,
I wonder if anyone can further this information;

William Solomon died 7 Feb 1823 St. Gluvias - aged 85 years [so born c. 1738] m. Oct 19 1769 to Mary Robins 1742 - 1821.

 - Son: William Robins Solomon died Dec 6 1831 St Gluvias, Cornwall, aged 61 [so born c. 1770] m. to Unknown.

William and Unknown had Christopher Robins Solomon born 1806, Plymouth m. Mary Rogers Turner, Oct 17 1844, and Cordelia Solomon who married Jasper Williams Sept 1 1840.

Thanks in advance and perhaps this will be useful for someone else too.
Regards,
Brian

Hi Brian,

Are you aware that Mary TURNER was Christopher Robins SOLOMON's second wife? I am interested in his first wife Elizabeth Libby SHAW. (No connection, it is her ancestors who interest me - more a one name interest) I have not done much with Christopher's family. I have the details you have mentioned. William Robins SOLOMON was baptised 21 Aug 1770 St Gluvius. I do not have Christopher's baptism believed to be in Plymouth, nor his fathers marriage. Just looking at my notes and I I note I did wonder if William Senior may have had more wives.

Quote
Mr William SOLOMON widow = Mrs Jane CAMPBELL Widow both of Penryn by licence 18 Aug 1796 St Gluvias
William SOLOMON Widow of Penryn = Mary STURGEON widow by licence 16 Oct 1800 St Gluvias (John Sturgeon = Mary POLGLASE 13 Dec 1773 St Gluvias)

There is a Mary SOLOMON buried St Gluvias 16 Mar 1821 aged 73 years

Cheers Kris  :)

Thanks for that Kris,
Some I had, some I didn't.
One more interesting titbit I have is the below -

National Archives / Plymouth Municipal Records

[no title]  1/706/1/3  1804

Contents:
William Robins Solomon of Plymouth, excise officer, and John Bray and William Penwell, both of Plymouth, re suspected hiding and concealing amounts of coffee and brandy.
