Searching for Booklet on Struthers
« on: Thursday 10 December 09 10:57 GMT (UK) »
Hi all I am on the search for information relating to ancestors of mine namely Struthers who settled in Sorn, Ayrshire.  There are around 18pages of information from 1769-c1940 of the decendants of James Struthers and Mary Watson.  This booklet was written by J.Dean Bacon and the Scottish Genalolgy Society has it but although it says on their website that you can pay for a photocopy they have informed me by email that they will not photocopy it for legal reasons/photo copy rights.  Can anyone try and help me locate it to see if there are other copies around and who was J Dean Bacon?  Any help appreciated!

Hi Jim yes I do, I haven't been working on my Storie's for a while.  I think i've been in contact with you on Genes a while ago, I still have my tree on genes but not added much to it.  Tracey

Tracy
thanks
Yes we have been in touch in the past
To get further with the Stories I will have to go into Edinburgh to get the most recent lines
Have opened a few skeletons that I never knew obout
But that is half the fun of doing family tree

Have you really? How exciting, I haven't found any in mine yet but I keep hoping!  I do remember my nana talking about a female Storie child being adopted when I was young and I have always wondered so maybe I will be able to uncover that at some point!  Do you know that Ayrshire Archives has re opened they also have researchers there.

Hi Jim. Yes I did know, Jimmie is my Nana's brother, he had been a bit unwell for a while. I didn't know him personally but knew lots about him from all my Nana's stories of him.  There is one sister left now still living in Ayr I really must visit her and find out more about the family as she's very elderly.  I haven't been working on my Storie tree for a while but have started uploading it onto ancestry as I have been in touch with Jimmie's son so that they can all view it when it's done. I hope your well and I shall send you an invite to view the tree when it's up and running. Tracey
