(Wivel) 1841/1851 Census Please For Betsy ROSSITER

Hi,

I am doing a one name study of the Rossiter family and am looking for information please about Betsy Rossiter who married John Kerslake on March 14th 1824 in Wiveliscombe.

John and Betsy had at least 9 children all baptised at Wiveliscombe:-

Mary born circa 1826
Ann born circa 1827
James born circa 1830
Elizabeth born circa 1832
William born circa 1834
George born circa 1836
Sarah born circa 1838
John jnr born circa 1840
Stephen  born circa 1842

I am hoping  that it will be possible to get details of John & Betsy's years of birth and birthplaces to enable me to connect Betsy to her ancestors.

Any information  will be greatly appreciated please. TIA.

I haven't been able to find the parents in 1851, however I have found the sons James, William and George all lodging with other families.  Sorry I was unable find Stephen Kerslake.

There is one birth on FreeReg which may well be your Betsy Rossiter:

baptised 28 Oct 1804

Mother: Sarah Rossiter spinster single base born

1851 Census:

It seems like daughter Sarah age 14 ended up with William & Elizabeth Kerslake plus their 5 children in St Woollos, Newport, Wales as a general servant (HO 107/2452).  William was also born Wiveliscombe abt 1818 so likely a relation.  He was a grocer.

Mum Betsy is recorded as Betsy Kerswell age 46 head b about 1805 Wiveliscombe living as a Charwoman in Rotton Row, Wiveliscombe and on her own (HO 107/1921).  Can't make out whether she is Married or a Widow though as there is a mark through it.

So has father John died between 1841-1851?  There are 4 recorded deaths for a John Kerslake in Wellington district which would encompass Wiveliscombe - 1843, 1846, 1850 & 1858.  Is it also possible one of these could be John jnr?
