If it is Rachael christened 7 Jan 1803 at St Bees - Geoff gave you the father as Joseph Pearson according to IGI record. We could guess from the 1841 census that Hugh is Roberts brother so who.....

Is James in this second family - is he related to the other Johnston family ??

james johnston  born in 1815 cumberland (acton) he was married before he came to newcastle upon tyne
james was an iron worker
we do not know his first wife but we have his second
he came to newcastle with his son john born in 1847 he remarried in 1852

robert johnston born in 1809 married rachel pearson in 1830 at st bees she died around  1840
a the last child was in 1836 a charles johnston
robert's marrage was witnesed by henry walker and w greorge eaton

robert johnson as a bove remaried to aelizabeth maciver in about 1843 as there irst child was ann born in 1843
not sure were hey maried butthere last child was a charles born in 1851 in co durham
