Just in case you were wondering there are 2 Ibberson families in Derbyshire in 1891

1. Wm Ibberson born Retford Notts living Beighton Derbyshire age 38 Coalminer
Elizth Wife born Hackentorpe Derbyshire age 33

Main St Beighton

2. William Ibberson Head age 29 Steward,Conservative Cub, born Retford Notts
Kate E Wife age 24 born Sheffield Yorks.

Living Campbell St, Conservative Club

In 1901 I can't trace the 1st family and the second family is living in Preston Lancs.

No Ibberson family shows up in Derbyshire in 1901.

Thanks for message. I'll have a look around and see if any of those births were before 1901.

Here's Allan but not much use - I think that these Chesterfield births are your family - after all how many Nellie and Allan Ibberson's can there be. If I were you I would send for one of the birth certificates to get parent's names and then we can have another look on the census for you.

 Ibberson, Charles Harold
 Birth
Quarter ending  March 1908
Year:    1908
Chesterfield
Derbyshire

Also picked up these - any ring any bells (apart fronm Nellie)?

Enid 1898
Ida 1901
Muriel May 1906
Nellie 1894

Note: There is a 2 year old Enid with the Ibbotson family I found in 1901

I won't be able to pick up all births, I expect, but could Edward possibly be Edwin (as appears with that family in 1901) and here:-

Perhaps this is Edwin since I only ever heard of him as Ted and therefore perhaps mistakenly assumed Edward.

Looks like we may be closing in on this family! though it is surprising how those with the most uncommon family names seem so often the most difficult to track down.

Many thanks again

Hello,

I see that you have Cowlishaw listed as a family name.  Do you know if they were from Wirksworth originally or nearby?

My husbands family has been traced back to there from the 1700s' - is there a link?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Gill Cowlishaw

Hi Gill,

In short I don't know whether you have the same Cowlishaw family as me, but it IS very likely. I have a Mary Cowlishaw, born C1675, and married to George HILL 15 March 1695, in Alfreton, which is very close to Wirksworth. Indeed, George came from Crich, in the parish of Wirksworth. Mary died on 14 August 1728. Again in Alfreton. The couple had 7 children that I know of, one of whom, John HILL is my direct descendant. If I can help some more please let me know. Best wishes.
