Searching for Frederick Albert Archer's parents

As a Northerner who has only recently discovered Middlesex relatives, I've struggled with this for a couple of hours so thought I would turn it over to you guys

My paternal grandmother's middle sister (still living) married Ronald Albert Archer, who was in the RAF during WW2 and was sadly killed in action a mere six months after they married.

Ronald was born in late 1917/early 1918 (registered Q1 1918 Hendon Vol 3a Page 492) and his parents were Frederick Albert and Maude (nee Johns). I found their marriage in the LMA records on Ancestry (27 Nov 1915, Harrow) and that told me that Frederick's father was Albert Archer.

From Frederick's age at marriage, he would have been born in about 1893, and there's a matching birth on FreeBMD in Hendon in the September of that year. However, this is where it gets tricky... the volume number is given as 3a, but the middle digit in the page number is unreadable on the index scan - it's given as 1_9. I've done a manual search of FreeBMD replacing the middle digit with every number between 0 and 9 and it's not turning anything up I've also tried searching the Baptism/Christening records on Ancestry and can't find one that fits. FreeBMD states that the expected page range for this district is 159 to 243, but I've checked the image and it's definitely 1_9.

Albert was single in 1891, so likely marriage is Albert ARCHER and Mary Ann FOX, Dec qtr 1892, Dover

Looking at the original image for Frederick Albert's birth registration it looks like 3a 159 to me.

No Archer birth on 3a 159 for that quarter Stuck...

His baptism does appear to be on A....y:

Frederick Albert Archer bp.27/8/1893 St. Martin, West Drayton son of Albert and Mary Archer.

Born 1893 May 24, with Albert's occupation gardener, which probably clinches it.

How did you find the birth date, Ian? I can only get the baptism date, not that Ancestry will allow me to attach the record as a source
