Where did you obtain the father's name William Bligh?

On the copy of the marriage certificate of 17 October 1892 I am looking at there is no father's name, although an occupation of blacksmith has been entered.

Well I can't see Ellen anywhere and I have tried various searches.
There is a birth for Ellen Barclay which fits so I would suggest that a certificate be obtained for that to compare names etc.

best wishes

On the marriage cert Ellen has signed with a X....so she may not have been able to tell if the vicar spelt her name correctly.

I wonder if it might also be spelt Blythe?

Hi Carole,

I thought of that too as I did see at least one Ellen Blythe with perhaps a Thomas now I think about it - I'll have a look.

There's a baptism for young Ellen- on the 16th April 1893 at Saint Paul's Bow Common. Father Thomas Wyatt Barclay- match finisher and mother Ellen, address 3 East Ward Street.

I wonder if that is where they were in 1891?

Thomas is at 18 Weston Street - forgot to put the address in earlier- was tired.

He may have been entered on census with his father even though he wasn't living there I suppose.

Hello and many thanks to all with your helpful research!
the thomas henry barclay is correct as i have found a small piece about him!
Ellens name was correct but its still a mystery as to her birthdate as it varies so much! i guess being uneducated she had no certain idea of her age!
is there any way I can discover her parents names if i cant find her birth certificate?
im also trying to trace thomas barclay junior born 1887 as far as my family were concerned there were just 2 sisters, but i have found a brother on several census! so id like to find out whatever became of him!!!!
help please!!!!!
