Hi again,
here is the death registration for your mother

Beatrice Fletcher
Dec qtr 1961
age 67
Leicester
3a 583

purchase of the death certificate would give you exact date of death , address at which death occurred, caudse of death and name of informant
Certificates cost £7 from GRO -you can order online and they will be posted to you

the death reg gives the quarter when the death was registered (so could be between end of Sept to end December) and the registration district where the death occured (reg districts cover quite an area .

I posted a possible death reg for your father Dec 1975 - deaths around that time and up to present day also give the date of birth

If this is your father -there is a birth reg which would fit in with his date of birth in Grimsby reg district (this district covers Waltham-which you gave as his p.o.b.)

I think I have your mother on the 1901 census-do you require that??

Thornhill, Cresswell, Sisson, Harriman, Cripps, Eyre, Walter, Marson, Battison, Holmes, Bailey, Hardman, Fairhurst Noon-mainly in Derbys/Notts-but also Northampton, Oxford, Leics, Lancs-England

Hi All,

I would like to thank you for the help so far I am finding it a bit emotional.

As I mention after mother passed away the family disintegrated. I came to Australia and kept up correspondence with Dad but at some stage all this fell away too.

I always presumed that Dad had died but until now never a confirmation. No one in the family ever attempted to contact me. I now hope to get some of the holes filled up.

Regards

Hi Suz,

These details seem to be correct. Thank for the info on getting copies of death certificates. Dad had siblings Robert, Nellie and Alice.

Oh my goodness -I can image the emotional journey you are on

I think I can find your father's family
you really need "key" certificates to confirm
your parents marriage cert would give their father's names and occupations

first I have found what seems to be your mother's family
so I will post that information shortly

the only Irish connection I can find (so far) is that (it seems) your grandmother's sister was born in Ireland -and your Mother's mother (your gran) was called Vashti

You may like to try out FreeBMD which is a free site of UK BMD's - although it is not fully transcribed yet - you should be ablr=e to check your parents birth reg
Will post shortly

Hi Abdul and welcome,

This could be your mother's birth reg.

Beatrice Bell
March Q 1893 Nottingham
Vol 7b

There is also an Ancestry member with Beatrice Bell b. 1893 Nottingham in their tree, showing 4 siblings, and going back several generations on her mother's side and a couple of generations on her father's side.

I can give you the details if you want them, but I don't want to spoil it for you if you intend to subscribe to Ancestry and do the searching yourself.

George William Fletcher birth entry in 1913 shows mother's maiden name was Johnson

Looks like John William Fletcher married a Nellie Johnson in 1905 at Grimsby.   Have found family on 1911 Census with 2 daughters born Waltham but we are not allowed to post details of this I will send you a P.M. with the details.

I would like to come to my initial question. That is what resources can I use on line. All the information I have received so far has been extremely helpful but I can't expect people to be doing the work for me. I am happy to let you. But how do I access this information.

Next question is software. Need recommendations. I have D/L Legacy seems pretty good but very Americanized. I am happy to pay for software as long as I can try before I buy.

Vashti sounds a bit of an unusual name and has a Jewish connotation would we be able to find out about her parents?
