Hi Vicki

I checked the Surrey Marriage Index CD but unfortunately no sign of the marriage.  I presume you don't know where Elizabeth came from?

Hi Kerry,
many thanks for trying.
1841 census Holborn states they were not born in that County.
1851 census is very difficult to read.
Possibly Dorking or Derby.

Thanks again,
Vicki

Hi Vicki

I've just had a look and I see what you mean, I don't think it is a capital D though.

Do you have any details of any children, where were they baptised, that might lead to a marriage.

Answered my own question

Just found one son, Charles James Hepburn baptised on 18 Jan 1813 at Holborn, to John and Elizabeth, book binder living at 19 Theobald Road.

So possibly married in that area then.

A possible John Hepburn baptism in St Andrew, Holborn for information just in case the census is wrong

John Hepburn baptised 24 October 1785 to John and Mary Hepburn.

Two more sons also baptised at st Andrew, Holborn, Sorry if you already have the details.

William Alexander 12 January 1806

John Leonard on 30 July 1809

I presume that is why you think they married 1805?

Did a marriage check on the London records and the following came up.  Not sure how far this is from Holborn.

John Hepburn and Elizabeth Barton on 1 October 1805 at St Mary Magdalene, Woolwich

The witnesses were Robert and Mary Elmer

Many thanks Kerry,
that sounds like a good possibility.

I know there was a large Hepburn family in that area,
it is a line I will pursue,

Thanks again,
Vicki
