James Bunn - help, please

I have just looked at the 1881 census for them.  The first child was born East Indies.  Not India.    As James is a labourer then he must have left the army by then.

No mention of the army anywhere there.    Is the Sgt Major bit on the 1901?

In 1901 James 61  and Adelaide 54 are living in Bolton, no children with them.  He is a General Labourer.
