Burial records for St Annes Church Southowram

I'm trying to find a definitive record of the burials in St Anne's Churchyard in Southowram West Yorkshire.

My Great Grandfather William Bottomley is interred there along with his wife Sarah and several of his children.

Although I've visited the churchyard and made out most of the inscriptions it would be very nice to be able to confirm that I have all the family accounted for.

If anyone could tell me who I need to contact I would be most grateful for the information.

Hi and welcome to rootschat
You really need to look at the original parish register and note all the burials.  Of course in more recent times not all will have been buried in the churchyard and very early ones may not have a headstone.  The registers will be available at the West Yorkshire Record Office at Wakefield or you can probably order the film to search at an LDS centre near you.  They are listed on www.familysearch.org   You can also check the deaths on www.freebmd.org if they are after 1837.

I notice they have offices in Huddersfield and Halifax which would be more convenient for me. Would it be reasonable to assume they would hold copies in one or both of these locations?

Yes, all the WYAS offices have fiche copies of the West Riding parish registers.  If you wanted to see the original books, you would have to ask which of the offices hold them.

PS according to my list the original books are at Wakefield.  Burials are covered at St Anne in the Grove, Southowram 1818-1935.

Whilst looking for my own in St Ann's Southowram i listed all the Bottomleys that i came accross, listing the grave numbers as well so you can possibly make associations.

hi Drew, can you still access the file on St. Anne's Southowram. I think you may have helped me with Brier / Brear family at King Cross.  Looking for Samuel d1862 or David or indeed any Briers between 1750s to 1860.

That is all the Brear's in Southowram, although there are lots more in West Yorkshire.
