I have a set of the 1992-1993 Register of Electors.

The only elector listed at 6 Meadow Crescent at that time was James P Spelman. He is not listed at that address in the current telephone directory.

I think that Moray Local Heritage Centre has a more or less complete set of Registers of Electors for the years you are interested in.

A free search of the index at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk reveals that a Lewis Ryan, aged 68, died in Elgin in 1974.

http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp tells me that Lewis Royan, aged 68, husband of Isabella J Whitecross, died on 14 April 1974 in Dr Gray's Hospital, and was buried in New Elgin North Cemetery.

His widow married Charles Watson and died, aged 76,  on 17 April 1993 in Aberdeen. She too is buried in Elgin Cemetery, but it's not clear from LIBINDX whether or not she was buried with Lewis. Her entry in the index spells her first husband's surname as Ryan.

my last hope of finding links with my Evans family

I see that LIBINDX at http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp lists 45 references to Evans. Have you had a look at this?

I've just been to the Heritage Centre, but there is not much more that I can add.  6 Meadow Crescent was, according to them, built in 1963.  In 1969 the tenant was Lewis Ryan - according to the Valuation Rolls.  There are no Electoral Rolls dating from that era in the Heritage Centre - they date from 1975.  The folks there believe that the Electoral Rolls must be in Edinburgh.

Incidentally, Royan is the name of an established butcher in Elgin.  Are you sure that Lewis Ryan and Lewis Royan are one and the same?

???Good Morning ALL ..The name that I was looking for was Lewis Ryan who I believe died in 1974 at Elgin..  The address I have and I firmly believe to be correct was held by my mother in law ...Lewis Ryan married Katie M Evans. Katie Evans died in 1939 London.  Lewis and Katie Ryan had a family of three children two died young which left one surviving female child which I believe is deceased. Lewis Ryan remarried to whom is unknown.
